I've been very quietly working on a Lincoln Memorial cent circulation set since somewhere around 1978, when I was a young teenager. Up until the early 80's I would search rolls of cents from the bank (mostly for wheats back then) and then return the unwanted ones for more. Lost interest in coins for over 20 years, from about 1986 to 2008. But that Whitman folder always followed me in all of my moves, and occasionally I would open it up and look at it. Got back into coins a couple years ago, and really attacked roll hunting. FINALLY finished the set yesterday. Never thought I'd find one of these! Not a big deal, but I've never heard of a 1960 Small Date found in circulation. Maybe I shouldn't even have considered it part of the set (weren't almost all of the Small Date coins found in Mint Sets?) but I found the 1970s Small Date last year, and many don't count that coin as part of the set. Anyway, I'm thrilled!

That is fantastic! You really found a 1970 S small date while roll hunting? I would love to see a picture of that.

First congratulation on the achievement! That was a monumental task you just completed! I also collected coins when I was a kid and left the hobby for about the same amount of years, sure wish I had those years back!

Congratulations on the completion of a monumental task! Finding all of those in circulation is quite an accomplishment.
Back in '91 when I really started to "work" on collecting, I began with cents, to build around my solitary 1924 that found it's way into my pocket as a youngster. I began with rolls from the bank, and found a good amount of wheats, and nicer memorials. As time went on I began purchasing them, in wheat rolls and singles, and had about 75% of an '09 to (then) date set complete. Then I began to upgrade.
That became the basis of two sets, the best of what I had and the upgrades into an Intercept shield album, and everything else in the original Dansco. It is my favorite set because they are all hand-picked. The Intercept Shield is complete minus the 09svdb and 22plain, with '35 and up all BU, CHBU, and Proof. I have never passed on any of my Lincolns. All of the original roll finds are in the Dansco, and some are in the IS (the early ones that I never upgraded because of the price). I really enjoy looking at those albums because they were put together, essentially, one piece at a time. I can imagine your feeling is much as mine.
I haven't done anything with them for quite a few years now, been onto other sets, but one day I'll come back to my Lincolns and there are still coins to be upgraded. It's quite a thrill to open one of those albums and see pages and pages of RED. But it's also a thrill to see pages and pages WITHOUT any empty holes!
Enjoy the fruits of your labors!
Steve

WOW! You found a 1960 SD! Congrats on that and on completing your goal. Finding the 70-S SD is amazing in itself, but add in the 60 SD and you've found a couple needles in the haystack!
Congrats!
