Shop near me has some raw 2x2 CC morgans for $75.00-$150.00. They look to be low grades, can't remember what the guy had for grades.

If it's a coin shop, there is a really good chance they are legit. Most can be spotted by casting bubbles, dull grey appearance, and "CC" just looks wrong. Also, the weight will be incorrect.
Those prices seem to be about right for circulated, more common dates.

I would also bet that they are legit. Although there are some, not too many coin shops would be willing to sacrifice their reputation by selling fakes. I am sure a knowledgable dealer would be able to tell most fakes and therefore wouldn't put out any non-genuine coins. Plus, the prices seem pretty fair for what you described.

Ran into a CC with casting bubbles outside of Ocala, FL. It was an antique barn with a lage coin display. Besides the bubbles and lack of luster on uncirculated coins, how else.

I would suggest getting a VAM book and check out the pictures of the mintmarks for each year. Not necessarily the positioning, but the size and style. (Some have large CC, some small, some close spaced, some wide. Sometimes the left C is higher, sometimes the right etc.) Most of the fakes do not get the size and style right for the year (Typically they will use the same reverse die with multiple date obverses. So if you see say an 1881 CC with a mintmark style only used in 1878, well guess what.)

Most of the CC dollars do not have too many reverse dies. It should be fairly easy to make up a "cheat sheet" of flip book for each of the years. If you are looking at a CC dollar and it doesn't match the size, style, and positioning for any of the dies listed on your cheat sheet for that year...

Thanks for the good idea Conder101 - I've been concerned about raw Morgans too, especially the CC ones.
