Received a 1 pence 2010 with the Royal Shield reverse in change today.
Has anyone found any other 2010 UK coins yet?

hi Kena, as of April 2010, I haven't been able to see one 2010 coin in circulation in the UK so congrats to you!
However I've found 2010 5 and 25 Kurus of Turkey this month

Is a post dated coin legal tender?
I only ask because that would never happen in the UK, where the mint are a bit anal regarding dates (other than not bothering to put them on occasionally)

I can answer this question for Turkey.
ALmost no one really checks, other than a coin colelctor, dates of a coin. So I don't think it'd be a problem for let's say a 2011 1-Lira coni to move around in circulation.
However, Turkish people are very aware of the designs and fake coins, a fake coin is almost %100 not accepted (same with a demonitised coin) in here. In all my adult life, I've only receieved a 1-Euro coin instead of a 50 Kurus back in 2008. People here are aware of their coins but I doubt if anyone checks the dates.

I received 4 at once the other day, all pennies.
It appears yet again they're chucking them out with flaws a plenty because out of the 4 only 1 is 'perfect'
Two have multiple lamination errors and one has a dodgy (weak?) strike on the edge of the lion and harp.

I got a 5 pence just a few days ago, and have seen a couple pennies. Nothing else yet though.

Co-worker gave me a 2009 £2 Charles Darwin coin today. First one I have seen in circulation.

I've seen loads of 2010 1ps up north, I normally get about three or four every time I go shopping!

Nothing much more than 1p and 10p I assume, what about 2009 coinage, any 1 or 2pounds in circulation?
I've red that none of the 50p's are released yet.

2009 £1 Royal Shield
2008 £2 Olympics Centenary
2008 £2 Olympic Handover (had one but looks like it has been misplaced)
2009 £2 Robert Burns
2009 £2 Charles Darwin (have only see one that I do have)
2009 £2 Normal Technology Reverse
2009 50 pence - any design

I have both £1 2008 coins and think I have seen quite of few of both designs. No 50ps seen for a long while that are new and the same with £2, I think ebay doesn't help, every time someone gets one, instead of ignoring it, it goes on ebay for £4 and lost from the system. They need to produce more to stop that! But they won't! |
