I'd like to know what the dealers in your area charge for ASE, both 2010s and older common dates (86-93, 97-09). Any input would be appreciated.

The local dealer here has a bit of a monopoly and charges anywhere from $23.00 to $26.00 for common date BU ASE's and he won't let you pick the coin its the top coin from the tube everytime, needless to say I personally do not buy from him.

St Louis- currently $21 for the 2010s and $20 for the other common dates, basically spot+$2 for old ones and spot+$3 for new ones.

Locally (Western PA) the shop is charging $25 for common dates (I get them for $22) and the 2010's are going for $28 (my price is $25). I get a break because I'm the only one (or so it seems) that actually spends money in the place. They do a lot of buying of scrap silver and gold. Problem is they are the only local shop, with a couple branches in the area. Local flea markets are charging roughly the same.

Not many coin shops available in the Twin Cities. Been getting most of my ASEs on ebay, I have purchased several at a average on $23.30 a piece. The one coin show here is a once a month show I go to and I stopped in with a twenty in my pocket. Found a dealer selling 87's for $21.00 each. When I asked to see the bag of coins he said sure and let me know that there was 11 in the bag, like I was gonna palm one off him. Well that kind of throw me for a loop. Next since they were some what toned and at the time silver was trading at 17 dollars, I made him a offer of the twenty for one. His reply was "Hell No!" not with the premium I paid from the mint there's no margin for me. These are 87's! Well that was it for me with this dealer he can just carry one more coin out to his car if he would like. Where is a good coin shop, anyone, anyone?

Coin shops here were 20-22 each last time I checked. Maybe 2 mos ago.
The gold broker here (only know of one in my area) gets spot+ 3%.
The broker has lots of silver, but the selection of specific years
varied wildly. He will let you cherry pick though.

When I lived in Memphis, I shopped one, and only one shop (HH). The guy
was laid back and helpful. Now, when I go back to visit, I try (tried)
to buy at least one coin while up there. Memphis is so much larger,
there is always more selection to pick through. Anyway, as I was
finishing my ASE set a few months ago, I had a few hundred bux to
spend with him, and was chomping at the bit to get my last 2 or 3
ASEs, as well as finding other stuff to spend the rest of the dough
on. I went in his shop, and it was messy, he was dismissive, and
he had a woman in the shop with him doing all the business. I told
her what years I wanted, and she pulled the rolls. It just blew me
away when, instead of laying out the rolls for me, she just dumped
on off the top of each roll, into her grubby fingers, and handed them
to me!

She spouted the total I owed, like I was going to accept this. I asked
if I could pick, and was told "those are the best you will find".

This WAS a really high quality shop. They lost an admirer and customer that day.

Wow... all these 22+ figures!
IMO you guys are getting 'the busness'.

I just made some calls, and we are still 20-22 here.
I won't pay over 20 myself. The last one I bought,
I got from the gold broker and paid spot+ 3%...
PERCENT, not DOLLARS, over spot.
I got a high end 1997 ASE for just under 18 bux.

My experience has been that you can rarely beat the APMEX price for ASEs. Right now 2010s are in the $21 and change range. I would not be paying $25 for them...

APMEX has a great pricing on ASE for sure, but I'm a one or two coin buyer. Shipping for say my two coin purchase is $12.95 divided by the two coins make each coin cost $27.52. I've received good quality coins on all my purchases. I like my $23.30 average on the "Bay"!

I have seen that gainesvillecoins.com have been cheaper than APMEX actually. but as said the shipping and handling is what hurts. my local shop sells unc 2010 ASEs for $25 bucks. he is in Davison, MI. I bought one from him just to help the local guy out a bit.

later, dave

IMO, right now is when the true collector works on their clads, cents, and nickels.
The heck with too much anything silver. I wouldn't have bought the last 4 ASEs I did
so close to 20 bux if my ASE album hadn't been so darn close to finishing.

Even INVESTORS SHOULD BEWARE...

To make money, you must buy low and sell high.

Right now, all the true investors that bought low years ago are hyping the market
and current events to get YOU to buy high, thinking it's a profitable thing.

Sorry, but silver just isn't going up much more, it'll bounce up and down by 2 bux
for the next couple years, then we'll be back to 4 bux an oz.
That is when you buy. Now is when you sell.
