My Mother-in-Law showed me this pendant she dug out of her jewelry chest with 18 inch gold chain and cubic zirconiums around the edge.

What do you all think? Value? (Enquiring In-Law's minds want to know...)

The value would be impossible to accurately calculate without a weight and fineness for the bezel and chain.

I would say $1300 for the coin and maybe estimate $100 for the jewelry.

I would assume the bezel is 14K, most seem to be. The chain has me baffled....it looks like the clasp might be gold but the chain itself appears to be fabric. Am I seeing things?

THAT'S GOING TO LEAVE MARKS! ......bullion coins don't typically have much collector value
especially if they are ex-jewelry...agree with bherring. $

The coin may not even be real. If it is, it will be damaged and only worth melt.

While I would most likely agree with thad, I would add this caveat, while the coin may be worth melt which is about 1200.00 today it has the added value of the chain and bezel. by the way its a modern ASE and that makes it pretty much worth melt to begin with.keeping in mind of course that gold was at about 112.00 an ounce in 1999.

the coin with the chain and bezel could well exceed 2000.00 in todays market, the coin has become jewelry and that while a coin collectors nightmare does not render any of the chosen path of this coin to be of lessor value than when it was purchased .

I would feel entirely different were this a classic gold coin.

Metalman we need to correct this. Gold has not been under $250 an ounce at any time in the last 30 years. Average price per ounce in 1999 was around $275 and that was the lowest year on record since the 1970's.
