My guess was 2. Those areas are either great for fishing or you get rather "skunked". I hope that it's a great day of fishing and he reaches the State Limits. It depends on what he catches and what he can keep. But, we're all guessing for the "Catch" and not the "keepers". There are a lot of little brookies in the high country lakes but, there are also some nice surprises. I prefer the Kokanee's on the Blue Mesa Reservoir. Ridgeway Res is nice too. Also..the lakes outside of Cimarron..I can't think of the name right now. It's the beauty of Mr. Sneffels, the San Juans and the Dallas Divide area that makes it all worth the efforts. Good luck!

Fly fishing the high lakes is the only way to catch fish !!

My guess is 6 fish kept from a total of 19 fish caught.

adobero1,
only because of weather factors, I will only say twenty-six (26), but hope it's a lot more, even if it is to exercise that old tired body of yours from the up and down of climbing those Little hills. You need to come to NJ where there are some real MOUNTAINS.. They even get to ski here sometimes!!!

By the way...what coins are best to use as bait? They make shiney lures and who can resist grabbing a coin found in a stream?...exactly how do you attach them to the line? LOL

Perhaps that's why so many old coins have holes in em. LOL

Hey Berry...I'll show you a spot in the Rockies where you can climb 3 14ers in one day - if you dare! tee hee Mountains in NJ are an Oxymoron! True Coloradans don't care much for "slat rats" anyway - just the tourist trade! The weather in the Rockies in August is absolutely marvelous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and he's picked one of the best areas!

I can see where you're coming from Metalman! Maybe it is almost downright criminal to fish the alpine lakes with anything other than a fly! That is a true artform which I hope to learn someday. I have a feeling that once tried, one never will go back to anything else! I just use an inexpensive Zebco 33 outfit with a common lure found at any Wal-mart!
I'd hoped to post a couple of pics of this beautiful spot, but am having some trouble getting my computer to recognize my digital camera, so it's off to the ebay computer board for help!
