I have an 1887-P morgan with a die crack running rond the lettering on the reverse, is this a VAM?

That is a very good question. If a filled die can be a VAM, I don't see why a die crack can't be as well. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

Yes, it is a VAM. The folks here will need pictures in order to identify it for you though.

Absent any other information, look at VAM 13.

Stevan, there is a round glass part on the camera, (place your coin in front of that glass). Sometimes there is a round plastic thing covering the glass, (remove that, to expose the glass). On top of the camera, there is a little button of sorts, push down on that (and see what happens). We will await your results.

Unless a die crack has evolved into a die break, by it self it will not earn a VAM, however, it can be very useful in pin pointing the VAM..

Just so you know... ALL "real" Morgan and Peace dollars are VAMs... Is it a listed VAM? Are the attributes you are looking at listable? Do you have something... "special"? we need pics to confirm... But, yes its a VAM as ALL "real" Morgans and Peace dollars are regardless what you see on them.
