I have never seen a GSA Morgan in a NGC slab, I always saw them with the tape around it. If NGC has started doing this to the GSA coins I think this is a huge mistake on their part

I thought it was the submitters choice. Have the pedigree put on the slab or have the NGC band put on the GSA slab. I'm sure NGC still offers their "certified" banding if it's desired.

I have sent in GSA Morgans plenty of times and I don't remember ever having a choice. There was actually a slot on the submission forms especially for GSA and come to think about it I don't remember seeing that on the new submission forms they sent me either. I hope they still leave ones submitted in the GSA Holders because as I said above if they have started putting them in their own slabs I feel this is a HUGE mistake on their part

I just looked and its still on the submission forms but see no place to choose if you want it left in the GSA holder or put into a NGC slab

It might have been a earlier submission that was reholdered or something, did ngc always grade the gsas in their softpacks? I thought early on they did not.

I don't know about soft packs, I do know this is one of NGC's newest holders. Either way I just say I hope they didn't change their policy about GSA's

Until a three or four years ago they did NOT grade the softpacks and leave them in the government packaging. They always cut them out. I'm sure they still grade the hardpacks and leave them in the government holders unless requested otherwise.

Could be a crossover coin from a PCGS slab or a resubmission for some reason of an older slab. Remember that many of the GSA oins were cracked out and sent to TPGs before NGC came up with it's wrap around certification.

to be honest when I saw this I never thought about soft packs, I just knew I had never seen any GSA Morgans in NGC slabs that I can remember and it kind of freaked me out. I was hoping they hadn't changed policy on GSA's but thought maybe someone on here knew for sure. This is one area they excel above all other TPG's and was hoping they hadn't stabbed themselves in the foot on this one

That's what I was thinking too; crossover. That is Bryan, unless you sent submitted it in a GSA Slab.

Crossover would explain it. I also prefer them in the GSA holders with the NGC certification wrap. Nice looking CC

I'm not sure, but I know they will still put the sticker on the gsa box.
I think some dealers might prefer this method (easier to carry/ship/store)
whoever submitted it sent in a bunch
see http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/C...=1936854-028
but http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/C...=1936854-001 is also CC GSA
as is http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/C...=1936854-050

so whoever submitted it, had 50 GSA CC dollars (i presume, I only checked 7 of them) to submit for grading. I'm going to go on a limb and say it was a dealer. The services pcgs & ngc offer to their dealers might be different than what they offer consumers.

Based on how NGC does their invoice numbers, being that they are sequential as you generate the invoice, one invoice per grading service type (a different type comes in when value is declared over 300). While no guarantee, based on what I've seen the dealer also likely submitted
http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/C...=1936853-001 through 005 - gold
http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/C...=1936852-001 through 005 - gold
http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/C...=1936851-001 a 79 CC GSA
http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/C...=1936855-001 through 020 - all CC GSA
http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/C...=1936856-001 through 007 - CC GSA (mainly 65's)
http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/C...=1936857-001 through 020 - CC GSA

I could go on - but I think you get the point.

I agree. The GSAs should remain in the original holders. That's how they keep their integrity and makes them more desirable in their original packaging!

Submitters choice and to an extent to compete with PCGS who will only do it pedigree style.
