Lousy strike, but I'm guessing it's AU anyways. Let's call it 55.

Let's see if I can put into action what I've learned so far. New Orleans is well known for it's weak strikes and that alone does not necessarily downgrade this coin. This coin has a full strike. This coin appears to have a strong mint luster and not a significant amount of chatter. The details appear reasonable with the exception of the breast and tail feathers are rather weak perhaps wear. The rim is clear without marks or dings. I would say MS64 except for the gouge on the reverse (top right) and perhaps the mark under the E on the Obverse, therefore I am reducing the grade to MS63. I know that you Morgan experts will have much to say. Thanks!

I'm nowhere near sufficient with my grading skills, but I'm going to say AU-58.

Keep in mind that the strike is a very important part of the grade and this coin does have a lousy strike as SuperDave mentioned so I'd have to say AU to.

Part of my reasoning is, if the strike were truly all of the problem, I think there'd be even less detail in the wreath and the ear than there is. Of course, my opinion could (and likely would) change with the coin in-hand to look at the cap and cheek.

Tim, I really need to get MorganFreds opinion before I reveal the grade. . This one could be an expensive proposition for me. .

Haven't looked at the other responses yet. The images are a little bright, but I'd guess it to be MS-62 since the marks on the obverse field in front of Liberty's nose, on her chin, and possibly on her forehead, and on the reverse above the Eagle's head would tend to keep it low. If it were any other mint than a New Orleans Morgan, I'd label it circulated due to the flatness of Liberty's hair and of the Eagle's breast, but O-Morgans can be deceiving and this one does not appear to have any circulation marks; the existing marks appear to be bag marks. However, knowing PCGS, they may have gone to great effort to keep it out of the Mint State levels, especially on less common Morgans, so may have labeled it an AU-55 to -58. I'm not sure PCGS is giving credit for New Orleans' weak strike Morgans these days. Other than trying to second-guess PCGS, I'd say it's a nice slider Morgan or better no matter what PCGS states. Fred Now onward to see what the others have guessed.

TLS, I'm flattered you want my opinion, but it's not worth any more than the others' opinions. It's also, as we all know, very difficult to judge a coin from an image despite what many sellers on ebay claim ("See the pictures of this high-grade coin and grade it yourself.") and also given that it's a New Orleans Morgan which are priving to give me a headache (Rick has an O-Morgan which is a killer!). Fortunately, this is just for fun. I'm gonna and stick with my slider guess: high AU or moderately low Mint State. Again, I'm trying to second-guess PCGS, not a good idea with them. Two or three years ago, it might have come back from them as MS-63 or maybe MS-64 making it a very valuable coin indeed, but if it was graded recently, no way is it gonna go one grade higher than PCGS's Population Report's Bell curve will permit.
