So I hear that in 38' they changed from micro to a larger S mm with serifs. I dont have a pic of mine, but I noticed it looked a lot bigger compared to my 37-s right next to it. wondering if it was in fact a larger S mm what would that variety be worth?

Did I miss something or did you forget to mention just what type of coin you are referring to.

Nice try Slash - except that the Franklin series didn't start for another ten years.
As for Lincoln cents, there are no mintmark types known for San Francisco in 1938.

Yep, there's 28-S small and large varieties. The large S's are more difficult to find and almost impossible in BU. I've been seeking a BU 28 large S for a long time....all I ever find is circ examples. As I recall, Chucks estimate is that 1:20 are large S and I've heard as low as 1:60 are large S....nobody knows for sure.
It's interesting that not many people collect these varieties even though they've been known for many years and are easy to differentiate.

The 1928S in that image is a small-S style.

i think the S needs to be zoomed in on much more to even begin to sort out which one it is the main difference I see in the link bad thad posted was to end of the top of the "S" the large date looks more pointy and seems to arch up more it also might be hard to tell because of the gunk around the S just my opinion from looking at the pics Also wow from a while back I didn't even process the date with my guessing of the Franklin half lol just basing it off previous posts lol at least the type of coin is clarified, now which varity.....?
