I've had my Kennedy album for maybe 10 years. I saw a post that someone had all of their pages in the 8166 but I have added two pages ending with date 2002 and I see no way to add another page. Can someone confirm or deny this please? Thanks.

dansco albums come in various sizes that can fit 4-10 pages depending on the size. from my experience with adding pages, most albums can take 1-2 pages more than they originally had. unfortunately, the size of a half dollar and the fact that there are 4 issues per year including proofs, a new page is needed every 5 years, so you may need to get a new cover every 10-15 years. I got my kennedy album about 10 years ago too and have added 2 pages. right now it doesn't close all the way, so a new larger album cover will be needed in a few more years.

My newer 8166 (bought with 8 pages through 2011) looks like it can hold about 10 pages in the spine, but I would worry about 10 pages of coins fitting in the slip case, since the part of the pages with coins is thicker than the part at the spine.

Well, that sounds like I will need to fork up some more dough. Bummer as there really isn't much to do with the old one except use it for kindling. I added 2 pages and it closes okay but I don't see anyway to get that last page in there.
I am moving to another system anyway. A custom setup using airtites which I think will be much better in the end.

I have a four page album purchased in 1984. Yes, four pages, full; no room for a 5th or 6th. This album runs to 1991, plus two extra holes that I placed another 1964 and 1964-D in. It is very heavy, so I opted to use a second four page album with generic (unlabeled) half dollar pages. That album starts with 1992 and has one year per row. I love how all of the proofs are to the right of each page, with the silver proofs on the end; all in the same column. It is good until 2011, so hope they stop making them after that year. However, I am certain I will end up getting a third album only to have them finally stop the Kennedy half dollar in 2013. Actually, I will probably just use the slack space in the Franklin album like I had up until recently (I originally hoped they would stop them in 2001). Two extra pages fit nice in the Franklin album.

I would think that as a Dansco album gets to the point where they add 2 or more pages, than they are going to go with the thicker cover. I guess part of this hobby is, there will be a point where we have to upgrade albums, for pretty much all current modern coins. Of course the exception should be for ATB (parks) quarters and Presidential dollars. As for the current 8166, It looks to me like they have the 7 page album with the 8th page being added. Here is a example: http://www.tradewindssupplies.com/i...f-detail.htm

I forgot to add.
A option would be to purchase the thicker (blank) binder move your current pages, then purchase and add the new pages. jakes has blank 7/8 page binders for $7.95 and page 8 for $4.25. Page 7 is special order.

Quote: I guess part of this hobby is, there will be a point where we have to upgrade albums, for pretty much all current modern coins. So true. When I got my first Dansco albums in 1984 (I was fifteen), I honestly believed that I would see design changes before I would run out of room.
