That Mercury dime one on Etsy looks pretty cool. I think there would be a (small) market for something like this. A unique form of jewelry. Might run into problems due to defacing currency and trying it sell it though...lol

USC 331 says otherwise.
I have done Mercury dimes but I only use damaged or whizzed coins.

My mom had a Walking Liberty half that was cut out like that. Very attractive coin.

There's no crime involved if the intent is to create an art piece.

Like the Buffalo too.

The cool thing about using Mercs or Walkers is that you can sell the pendant for more than numismatic value and you get to keep the extra silver that you took off. Double bonus!

That's true but I still don't like to do it with coins that have any numismatic value over melt.
