Hello again,

I have been on a hot streak of late for finding cool lincoln rpm's. This one appears to be another new one as it does not show up on Coppercoins. It is a d/d to the north, with a portion of the upper loop extending above the second punching and a lower bar visible inside the loop of the second punch. Has anyone seen this one before? Thanks in advance:)

I don't see a match. It may be a new die. Congrats!

Great:) Thanks Coop!

That's two unlisted varieties found in less than two weeks for me. Its amazing how you can search for months with little to show for it, then suddenly the flood gates open and cool finds pop up left and right. Happy hunting and thanks for the great site everyone!

Looks like 1964D-1MM-001 to me.

Thanks coppercoins!

However, when I look at 1964D-1MM-001 and compare it to the one I posted, I don't quite see a match. Mine has a north punching, with no evidence of the vertical bar to the west as seen on the -001. Also, mine does show a lower loop inside the second punching, but it is much higher than on the -001. Finally, none of the die markers on my example match up to the -001, but that could be due to a different die state. Still holding out hope for a new discovery:). Thanks for looking!

It could possibly be just that - a different die state. I have seen a number of times where the vertical bar will almost - or completely - disappear in a later die state. The markers could be different because of die state.

End result is that your coin is VERY close to 001, and to have a completely new die that strong show up more than 40 years after it was minted is a little unlikely - especially when it looks so much like one that was discovered in the late 1960s.

Just sayin.

Anyhow, if I had to bet on it from the images alone - I would say you have 001. Not a new one.

Thanks again for all your help coppercoins! I will certainly take your word on it:)

If things clam down for you in the future, I would be happy to send this one to you along with the 1950-d rpm east that I posted a couple of weeks ago for you to look at. I'm sure that you have no shortage of these types of requests and I certainly don't want to make any more work for you, just throwing the offer out there:). Have a great week!

Yeah...hmm...

I said back in 2001 that once I got caught up on the coins I have here to photograph I would start attributing other people's coins. Ten years later and I have barely made a dent in the ones I had originally planned on photographing. At least I am getting a little more active in it again - for the first time in over a year I have taken the time to get a few out and photograph them. I will be posting images of five new 1955 proof doubled die reverse cents this week. Maybe some day - maybe.
