I agree with you BTW. In my observation,

1. The Blakesley effect isn't obvious...perhaps just slightly on the obverse (wouldn't anticipate more for this size).
2. The lettering falls into the clip.
3. The rim fades into the clip.
4. I can't identify any "bulging" of the metal at the clip from the side shot.
