Awesome, I'm lucky if I get a wheatie in change, and 9/10 it's gonna be a 40s/50s

Quote: Awesome, I'm lucky if I get a wheatie in change, and 9/10 it's gonna be a 40s/50s Ditto, except for me instead of 9/10 it's without fail they end up being 40's and 50's. Christmas Day we were at my mother-in-law's house. I was talking to her new Husband about coins and he suddenly gave me a medium sized jar about 3/4 full of pennies to sort through. He said anything I find I can keep. About half way through - nothing. And it was funny he said, "There's got to be at least one or two in there" and literally a second after he said that I found two right next to each other. In total, four Wheaties out of fairly small amount of total pennies. I would have been happy finding just one. But... as I said in the beginning - all 40's and 50's.

I rarely get them in change, only occasionally in my roll searching. However, when I do find them, yes, they make me smile too.

Nice score. I learned, just as you did, that if I get one in change to always ask if they have more. I always check the 'give a penny, take a penny' holders on gas station counters. One time I looked and found one, then another, and then two more. The girl at the counter said, "You can have those. Do you want the rest of 'em?" She reached in her register and pulled out about ten or so more. Apparently some guy had brought in an entire roll.

SpitWadd, that's probably around what I was averaging when I was searching pennies. Sometimes I'd get around 10 per box but not normally.

You can check the approximate values of most coins by consulting the website NumisMedia.com.
While none of your finds are really valuable, it is certainly rare to see that many pre 30's in circulation. You made the right move to check for more once you found the first two. Excellent work!
