I've had an American 20 cent coin on my wantlist since before I joined this forum. It hasn't been easy for me finding one, not even the common garden-variety 1875-S type.

I've never seen or heard of one being sold by a local dealer or auction house here in Australia. And trying to find one on ebay has been frustrating.

Sure, ebay USA usually has plenty of 20 cents on offer at any one time, but very few of the ones I found there whenever I looked allowed for shipping to Australia; most were USA Only. The few coins I did find from sellers that were prepared to ship to Australia either frankly didn't look the best, or were slabbed - and I wasn't going to pay a premium for a slabbed coin when it wasn't going to be staying in a slab once I got it.

I couldn't use ebay Australia to search for them, either, because the 20 cent denomination is a common Australian coin, and searching through hundreds of "20 cents" trying to find American ones was like looking for a particular piece of hay in a haystack.

I finally got lucky with this offering. The price was right, and even though the only international shipping option he gave seemed awfully pricey, it was certainly worth it. I've never received an item from the US so quickly - it was here in six days, and that included a weekend when Australia Post doesn't deliver.

And here are my scans of it:

Congratulations on striking an item off the wish list! It's always nice to get a coin that you've been searching for...so you can start the next search!

Yeah, I am still looking, and have been for some years. I have had the same problems locating a pleasing example for exactly the same set of reasons.

Congratulations.

Sap,

Congrats on your acquisition. You know if you would have mentioned to us that this was on your list, folks here would be coming out of the woodwork to help out.

What other "unfulfilled" desires are on that list?

Whoop whoop!

Nice looking coin! These are hard to find in nice condition no matter where you are. Spent quite a long time looking for the one in my 7070.

I did.

It's always been in my forum wantlist, both the old thread and new thread, and I even posted a separate want thread here, in case any helpful American forum members didn't notice it buried there in the main list.

I'll be putting a new wantlist out in the next week or so (please don't use either of those old wantlists; they're out of date). The only other US coin denomination I don't have and would like a representative of is the half-cent.

Alright, you got me. I did see that list but failed to see that entry 3/4 of the way down the page.

I shall pay more attention henceforth.

Very nice!

I lost a chance to get the perfect Twenty Cent coin for my 7070.

Well, perfect for my collection.

And I did not lose the chance and much as I gave it way.

I love the 20-centers! I wouldn't mind getting the one year 20-center from Canada!
