Okay after a few weeks of rest and the better half deciding that I could go to the coin so today off we went.
Over the Christmas season a member of the board here did something that I found really above and beyond for me. It restored my faith in people helping others.
Well that included a 1941 Merc as a gift.
So as I was in the shop today I picked up a Dansco 7123 for $7 used but looks new. Also, I picked up a 1916 Merc and two 1923's by accident only meant to get one 23 and was looking at a 25 but goofed.
So I'm on my way for my classics.
Shocking enough the better half was digging in the Darksider bin and found some that caught her eye. :)

Great set to collect. I think they're a very nice looking coin. They're cheap, they're silver, and they can be bought in good condition for a relatively cheap prices.(especially 30's-40's)

One of my favorites too. Never can decide which I like better. It's either the Mercury dime or the Walking Liberty half. I use Whitman Classic Albums and now recently finishing my 12th set of the Mercury dimes. With others in 2x2's, in plastic rolls, the total is way over 3,000 of them.

You guys might already know this but Adolph Weinman designed both of these coins (merc's and walkers) and they both were issued the same year (of course you know that).

Good choice. I have a Mercury set that is missing three coins. I am sure you can guess which three I need.

I'm down to just one. It is a great set of coins every coin collector should get into.

Not an easy guess actually. If you use Whitman Classic Albums you also need the 42/41, 42D/41, 45 Micro S as well as those tuff ones like the 16D, 21, 21D. What is really odd is no one ever mentions the 31D as difficult to acquire. Note it is the 4th lowest mintaged coin in the entire series. Much less than the 26S, yet that one is worth way more.

The Mercury dime is a very nice set to collect. The coins are affordable, many can be bought for very reasonable prices in mint state. Good luck with your collecting.
