BLUESZONE - that's quite a good return -- if only we knew how things were going to go we'd have all been buying scrap silver :)

Of course at that "grubby" end of the market silver is just ...well...silver, a commodity to be traded - the fact that it is in a coin form is practicially immaterial as it's only the metal value that's of interest. I think that's rather sad - I wish it (silver price)was lower because I want to buy interesting numismatic items - something with history - and that's where the margins are being squeezed.

have fun with your collecting

Laughing, I've held on to most of the silver that has crossed my path since the late 60's. Quite a lot of it found in change.

I could not even imagine copper at $10.00 an ounce
or the severe impact it would have on the world economy

Then again 2 years ago I thought $30.00 an ounce Silver
was unimaginable

A little bit of both. I'm in a happy medium for my stacks of silver, but now that I started to build some silver sets....well....

I am surely enjoying watching my stockpile of silver gain more and more monetary value, but I am also crying over the fact I never EVEN started a washington, franklin, walking liberty, merc, or a roosie set. I love the 1oz world coins that are produced as well and I could not possibly build a set of any of those anymore. Slowly coming to terms with the fact I am unable to acquire those for my collection. Unless I sold off all my silver to fund those purchases, but alas, being 20 and working part time I cannot afford to do that at this time.

I agree with BH1964:

I'm crying for the USD that is heading in the toilet. That's a big part of the run-up.

As I said in another silver topic - I'm afraid of what the clowns in Washington are doing to the country. I don't think that the two parties could agree on how to tie a square knot, so I don't see much hope for them coming up with anything on the multi-trillion dollar deficit that we've got.

I hear you guzz.. I got involved when silver was around 17/18 per OZ.. I was holding off from purchasing, telling myself I will buy large quantity when it drops again. Sure enough it started skyrocketing and I lost my chance. Luckily I started buying a little regardless of price fluctuation around $22-25.. Problem was I only put a couple hundred into it.

Not that I don't care; I'm happy for those that are interested in seeing their investment go up, happy that maybe some silver coins will be melted for those that might want their collectibles to be examples of scarcer lineage, BUT, sorry if ANYTHING really gets melted, as less collectible product. Tough call...

Think about this, I got into silver back in mid January, my mother gave me 11 silver rounds she bought back around 2001 in NY, not long after 911, and 8 of the coins are in ref to that event....

I looked at the economy and after studying some info from people way wiser an wealtheir than I that said silver was a smart investment. Plus all these shops are buying gold, why not try and get some silver since it is much cheaper than gold, still yet at around 50 bucks a pop now plus on ebay for one oz....

I now have about 54 oz of silver an 12 grams of pure gold via small coins, which is really not a drop in the bucket in the bigger picture of investing, but I will add more of both, a small piece here or there. I would say I have discovered a great hobby more so than a great investment. Still yet, if one had bought a 100 oz silver bar back in late January, that block would now be worth say 4200 plus. Fifteen hundred in not even three months not bad. For the person out there with 1000 oz of silver, there stash went from 27,000 to 42,000 in just about ten weeks, that is not to shabby....

The only thing I go with silver is roll search for it and sell it. The higher it goes, the better.

I started back into it in 2008 after selling all my silver to the Hunt brothers back in the late 70s. First buy was 5 rolls of SAEs at about 18.50 each and still have them. Just finished by certified SAE collection 2 weeks ago. Got some Silvertowne 1 oz bars back in 2008 also and still have them. Been thinking if it might be a good time to sell some.

Still watching the daily climb.

Not really bothered either way. I hope the posts I have logged on similar threads are seen as unbiased.

Perhaps, with a level head, some of these posts may be worth reading. Have a gander at them, anyway.
