I believe I went through about 20,000-30,000 pennies to find this but it was worth it. I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me the grade or value of the coin? Thanks Edited by amadeusbojiuc 04/15/2011 3:55 pm

Congratulations on your find! I would say the coin is a VG-10 to a F-12. Better pics would help to pin the grade down. Welcome to the forum. God Bless, Bill P.S. The coins worth is about $2

I don't roll search, but it's been ages since I've found an Indian head in circulation.

Funny, I found an IHC in the first box I ever searched and have not found one since.

My wife found one in her change a few months ago and gave it to me. I'm glad she recognized it!

I also found a 1907 once- only one I ever found. That one is worth about $3- it's in nice shape for it's age, solid VG, maybe F

Great find and really nice condition too. I found one about 6 months ago, but before that it had been 30+ years since I'd found one.

I guess I'll be a buzzkill and say what's on my mind: how is searching 30,000 pennies worth it to find one coin you could have bought for $2 at any coin shop?

Thrill of the hunt Matt! Plus, the hoard of other coins you find along the way. Everyone has different reasons for searching. I have quite a few coins in mind while searching a box and seldom come away with at least a roll of pennies that I keep, if not more. That doesn't include the copper pennies I set aside.

Finding a coin like this in my opinion is much better than just going to the store and buying it. The journey of searching for it is the fun part, and yes as mentioned, the countless other valubles you find along the way are just as much fun to find too, heck I've almost filled two rolls already with wheat cents. Had I just bought it, it wouldn't really be worth anything to me as that would be taking the easy way out.
