I came to work tonight, and my co-worker asked if I collect $2 bills and would like one. I exchanged her ones for it.

The strange part was, earlier in the day a new guy in our office needed something from a vending machine, and asked her to swap ones for the $2 bill. She swapped it knowing I collect coins and might want the $2 bill. I work with nice people.

Isn't it great? Now everyone who knows that I collect coins always come up to me and ask "Is this worth something?". Either that or they'll always have something for me.

Are $2 bills in circulation; do they print new ones every year, like they press new coins? Do they get sanpped up by collectors and folks that just consider them collectibles, or oddities? Can't say I've ever actually seen one...

Yea they still print them for circulation. But finding one in circulation happens like once in a blue moon. Your best bet would be to just go to a bank and ask if they have $2 bills to exchange.

I gave one to a homeless guy the other day b/c it was the only cash I had & I think he honestly needed it...hope he can pass it off without getting the cops called on him from some clueless teenager working a register somewhere!

I always just go to the bank and get them. I always give them to my daughter when she loses a tooth. I have never had problem getting them from the bank and they are happy to give them to me

odd thoughts: I can go to a zoo (ie bank) and see animals in their cages, but to me its more exciting to see them in the wild (ie circulation)

I get twos from the bank regularly and spend them everywhere just to get them out into circulation. I also do that with half dollars and the dollar coins. I get the Susan B. Anthony and Sacagawea dollars also whenever the teller has any. I have stopped spending one dollar bills and those I get in change I take to the bank and exchange them for one dollar coins.

Yesterday I had a purchase which totalled $6.00 and I gave the cashier a five dollar bill, a half and two quarters. She actually looked at both sides of the half to determine what value it had then put it in her cash register. She didn't say anything but from the look on her face it appeared as if she hadn't seen a half dollar coin before.

I have done something like that: one time last year I bought a sub sandwich with Presidential dollars.
