Picked this up at a coin show. The obverse picture most accurately represents the coin (for some reason the lighting was a little off on the reverse). I am sending it off for grading but wanted to see what you thought of my new little find. It called to me so I bought it!

I also think it looks MS and don't see any real traces of wear. However, I don't a lot of experience with this type of coin.

I almost said MS too, but I thought it looked like the rim was worn on the right side of the obverse, left side of the reverse.

Many "trimes" have strike problems so the weak rims aren't necessarily from wear. On this coin some of the reverse stars have sharp detail while others are flat; this is almost certainly a strike issue.
Overall the coin looks AU with a possibility of MS. The photos don't show much luster but it should have some based on the apparent wear. Cleaning is always a possibility in which case the luster might be impaired. Please let us know how the grading service calls it!

Ah, that makes sense. I was wondering how the letters near the rim had managed to escape the same wear.

Yes, there is definitely a strike weakness on the left but the stars on the right are very nice - I will reserve my "but my pictures just don't do the luster justice" comment if it comes back in a MS holder (crossing my fingers because I really do not see any wear on it).

It looks mint state and possibly lustrous. Hard to grade without highly detailed photos.

I think Jaobler naid it. By seeing the coin in hand, deffenatly could tell between AU and MS.

Sent off 4/23 - guess we will find out in 3 to 4 weeks? (this is my first submission as well!).

.98 - REALLY? If anyone sees where the damage is, please point it out to me!
On another note, I submitted three additional coins with it and 1949S Franklin: cleaned, 1956 Franklin MS63 FBL (yeah!), and 1964D Dime MS 64 (it was my dad's, had to do it).
So, if anyone can tell me where they see damage on this coin, please let me know because I am scratching my head. Boo!

Damage Now that I'm looking for damage I do see what looks like a rectangular dent or punch mark on the obverse star near its lower right edge (about the 5:00 position). The right obverse rim at about 3:30 has a wavy look but that seems very minor. I'd guess it is that dent but you never know with PCGS. Sometimes they seem to downgrade coins for imaginary problems!

Thanks for the opinions. My picture taking is bad - the rim around 3:30 is weak but straight and the coin is straight as well (I checked due to so many of them being bent). I am thinking is may be that mark. I have e-mailed them to find out why they gave it that designation - do you think they will respond.
My stubborn streak is coming out here - depending on how they respond, I may pull it from the slab and have a large dealer submit it to see how it is graded. I have looked at so many of these slabbed I can't believe they would call this damaged!

according to the pictures I do not see anything that would have me call this coin damaged but both them and you have an advantage over us by being able to see the coin in hand. if I were to give a grade on thee pictures I would say probably AU-58 with a shot at MS on it because it looks beautiful to me. But again I am just judging the coin by the pictures provided and I know how hard these tiny things can be to take a picture of
