I bought this from a dealer many years ago but can't remember the grade he gave it. Any ideas?

That's a pretty coin! Looks to be the slightest bit of wear on the extreme high points.

Can you post a closeup of the date/mintmark and the VDB?

I agree with Dave that the high points are rubbed and it's probably a true AU55; but pieces like this (high eye appeal, clean fields) often end up in MS61 or MS62 slabs when submitted for grading.

It looks close to position #4 of the mintmark, though the photo makes it look a bit higher to me. Also the vertical crossbar of the "B" on the reverse needs to be at a sharper angle and not parallel to the bottom crossbar. I can't quite tell in this pic, and it almost looks parallel. I'm not saying it's fake, but this one definitely needs to be authenticated. AU-58.

I agree with Johnny that the VDB doesn't look quite right. There is a tendency to believe that coins purchased long ago "must" be genuine but unfortunately that is not always the case. The value of this solid AU-58 coin justifies the cost of grading and authentication. PCGS would be best in terms of potential resale value but ANACS is also outstanding for authentication and will probably be cheaper.

I hope it's genuine! If I were you I'd want to be sure and would invest the grading fee.

Very lovely, problem-free, AU-58, with a nice antique tone to it.

The 'B' should have more of a tip to it, I'm not sure that it may be the camera angle.

I would say it looks MS-60 to me.

post it in the Lincoln grading for some others to look at.

I agree that the "B" in "VDB" doesn't appear correct, but it may just be the angle or pictures. I also agree with getting this graded or at least authenticated.

Looks AU-55 to me due to muted luster.
