So I've been looking at Dansco albums for my quarter collection. And I was wondering what most of y'all use to put your coins in. I have more of a question around the nice coins. For instance, I am going for the gusto...gonna collect as many quarters as I can from just plain old circulated quarters to proofs, to BUs, etc. If I end up buying a slabbed coin, do I leave it in the slab or take it out and put it in the album? If I buy a really nice 32d that ends up not being slabbed, do I just pop it into the album or get it slabbed...seems if I do that then I end up with holes in my albums...how do yall do it. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna end up with separate album for the circs and the uncircs?

the majority of my circulated collection is in Dansco albums. I only have 4 coins that were slabbed before purchase, and I left them in the slabs, just placing little labels in their album spot. Others can speakup on if you should get coins certified/slabbed or not.

edit: I was using folders for my collection, but after reading the opinions on this board, I have converted everything to albums. I have a couple Whitman albums, but most at Dansco albums. Most Whitman albums have spots for proofs. Dansco albums have one version with proofs and a version without proofs.

I have a Dansco with the Kennedy halves through 2012, maybe 1/2 complete, all given to me as birthday, Xmas gifts, etc... I have only a few dozen other coins in total, those mostly in flips (they seem to stay OK looking), and some in mint-type holders, like a few commems.

I use a combination of Danscos, air-tites, and capital plastic holders, with the occasional plastic or paper 2x2. Since you are interested in collecting Washingtons, my set is broken down like this: the classic uncirculated 1932-64 set in two white 8x10 Capital Holders, looks really fabulous since the coins are really uniformly SHINY and white for the most part, and I like looking at my set often, particularly when I was building it. 1965-98 is in a Dansco, as are the P & D State Quarters. I have a single coin per state Dansco for the clad proofs, and the silver state proofs are in a black Capital plastics holder. I get more comments and admiration on that set than I do on the classic set, even though the latter cost more than 6 times the cost of the silver state proofs.

I only use Danscos for sets I am working on. Everything else are in staple type 2X2's, airtites, or TPG holders. Out of all the folder choices out there, I like Dansco's the best.

Most of my coins aren't worth much, just cool looking. They all live in 2x2s, that are in PVC free pages, which are in a couple of 3 Ring binders.

Precisely how I have my Large Cents, LWC, Proof Nickels, Kennedy halves, and Presidential dollars. I find this more appealing than the folders some of you swear by. To each their own. ^_^

All danscos right now. Flips and tubes for the others. I want to try and build a 3-ring binder later. Just need to figure out what it's going to house.

Danscos, 2x2s, tubes, then some are just in a box that I've had since I was a kid. Those in the box are mostly things like random foreign coins given to me or picked up on travels abroad, very circulated wheat cents, etc. Anything nice goes in a Dansco if it's for a set, or a 2x2 if it's just something I wanted but doesn't have a specific place.

I use a combination of Dansco & H.E. Harris albums, Airtite's, and 2x2 in pages. OOP'S almost forgot and a couple of the small safe deposit boxes.

I use danscos and love them
even if you are just putting circulated pieces into them they look great
slabbed coins are something I don't really do
they are out of my budget haha
I would leave them slabbed though since it will make the coin a lot easier to sell for full value if it is rare or a commonly faked coin

I like Dansco's too. But I will crack a slab to fill a whole for my collection. I will not crack a slab if the coin is for future sale. I really don't vare for slabbed coins in general. I will buy them for verification on key dates but I like metal not plastic.

I collect coins and I keep them in Dansco albums. I do not collect slabbed coins. If I were to buy a coin in a slab, it would be removed from that slab and be put into an album. There is no right or wrong way, but this is is my personal preference. Do what makes you happiest.

I use Dansco albums for my best LWC - LMC and My Expensive Type set. The rest are in 2x2, tubes for rolls, and a Seal -A - Meal for Proof sets, Silver, and Commemorative Coins. All placed in 2 safes with Silica Gel that I place in the Microwave every 2 months to reuse them. I have slabs, but I won't crack them, I do label the holes in the albums. Hope that helps a little.
