Looks suspicious. The texture and the strike don't seem right. How much did you pay for it and where did you get it?

Hard to tell from the pics, I don't see anything that stands out as suspicious except the way in which it has wear. I haven't looked at many worn coins as all mine are AU - MS 65. Have you weighed it?

I don't see anything obviously fake about it. Weighing it is probably your best way to determine, however. and

I agree about the texture appearing a little weird but not having enough info otherwise. Assuming it's real, it's definitely been pretty significantly cleaned.

I think it's been cleaned, which makes it look unnatural.

I don't think it is a good coin. Check the MM, for 1880-CCs, at the Heritage Auction site.
The MM on your coin appears too large and c' are too round.
I don't know how to put the site in yet.

I hope this helps. This is from a 1880-cc.

I agree with coinstar. Start with inexpensive coins and do a lot of reading. I was looking for some info on the seller - feedback rating, length of selling history. That can tell us a lot. Not to say that a fake cannot work its way into a legitimate sellers listings. If it does though, you will get your $ back. I can't tell for sure from the photo.

Your coin has VG/Details and has been cleaned. Other than that, I'm convinced it's the real deal. Is this a scan? Sometimes scans give lower level grade silver coins the appearance of being cleaned.

Although the coin has been harshly cleaned it looks like the real thing. I would do what the others have advised. Weigh the coin to make sure that it is correct. I may be slightly lower than the norm due to the wear on it. Also try the magnet test and you could even take it to a local dealer and ask him or her to take a good look at it. With all of that out of the way, congratulations on your new acquisition and welcome to our forum!
