Hmmm, I'm not sure on this one. I'm certain that it's not a U.S. coin though.

i found a coin that has the EXACT same face and symbols on the front, but the reverse is different....its called a half essay dollar on this site....obviously not the exact coin you have, but hope this gives you a good start....check out lot 239

It's a 5 Yuan coin from Taiwan from between 1970 and 1981.
