It looks like a weak strike or wear on the head, while the letters look very bold (in part because of the darkness around them).

The date and portrait look slightly off to me.

I believe it's a cast copy. The date does not look right as well as the diagnostics, especially the reverse. I would love to have a weight. I bet it would be lower than a genuine coin.

Right, same here. Report it? I think I will try messaging the seller first.

The reeding creeping up on the reverse rim is a bit odd

I have some of the Chinese fake coins - did it on purpose so I could get educated as what they look like. The pics in this auction are not quite large enough to be 100% sure, but when I did snapshot it and zoom in, it does appear to have the same very small porous surface on the lettering that the fakes exhibit. Here is a closeup of a fake Buffalo that shows the porous surface better: I believe I would personally steer clear of this dime.

Faking Barber dimes would be a tough way to make a living. That said, the coin does look a little off.

Here is a pic of their fake 1894 dime copy. They used to sell these on ebay - but, thankfully, ebay stopped it.

Looks identical. I am absolutely confident the one that sold on ebay ($67.00!) is a fake.
