I have a few proof and uncirculated sets I want to sell, is ebay the best way to do this ? Nothing major, just a few from the past decade, like 2006, 2007 etc

I also need a few, like 2009, again... is ebay the best way or would I be better served at a local coin shop? coin show?

Thanks.

to CCF. You could try craigslist or stay around here and earn 250 quality posts and then try to sell here on the CCF.

I believe that ebay will best maximize your return when selling. I have never sold a coin, let alone a coin on ebay, so your mileage may vary.

When buying I prefer a coin show first and a coin shop second. I have never bought a coin on ebay, but many have had success with that venue.

Buying, selling, and trading here at CCF is an option once you have satisfied our B/S/T requirements.

I wouldn't sell something of a low dollar value on ebay. Seems the 13% fees you get hit with could be made up jsut sellign to a coin shop or something

Just remember if you are going to use greedbay (yes.. I do!), calculate and subtract their fees and their -- double whammy gotcha 'cause we also own Paypal -- Paypal fees before you post an auction. This way you know if you will be making enough profit.

ebay is ok, a lot better than a coin shop. the ones I have gone to, and they are many flat out lowballed me. I did the math and would have done better on E-bay. I have bought many and sold some on E-bay. It's easy and as long as you know what you need after all is said and done you will do fine. Good luck! I'd offer you something on the sets but I JUST bought a bunch by Coinsbybobby, site is http://stores.vendio.com/coinsbybobby. Decent prices, at least on sets and on some commenoratives.

Coin shops / pawn shops will generally low ball you on that stuff. They have to make a profit to cover overhead and stay in business. I think you might do best with craigslist as John1 suggested. No fees and such and you can back out if you can't agree on a fair price.

And welcome! This forum is an awesome wealth of information.

First of all, thank you for the welcomes. You all seem like a nice bunch.
I was thinkign ebay becuase I have purchased items there without a problem. I didnt know there was a 13% fee! ouch.
Craglist...never really thought of that because of all the bad press of fraud there. I didnt even know they sold coins actually, but will check it out.
Coin shops, I kinda figured they would not give me a fair price since they have to pay rent.
What about coin shows? There is a monthly local one coming up next week
The idea I like best, actually, is to buy/sell here. I need 250 posts huh? ok, well this is # 2...Maybe if I post once a day I will be good by Christmas.

Thanks again.

Jim
