THIS IS THE BEST FIND EVER THREADI looked around a little but there doesn't seem to be many threads about people's best finds that has much attention. My goal is for this to be the kind of thread we check on everyday. Rules: You can post anything from anywhere you got for either face value or free. Either that, or some guy at a cash register sold you a Two Cent Piece he found for a dollar, etc. I suppose we can put epic deals from dealers' bargain bins, too. Remember: If you find for example, a 1964-D Washington in AU, and you consider this you best find, and you post it, this is good. However, if you find the same coin in BU, just post it as your new best coin, and dont worry about the old post. I don't really want this to be the thread where we post ALL our finds, because there is already a thread for that. https://goccf.com/t/1902So, we want to see your best find ever. I don't care if its just a dateless Buffalo nickel. Thats cool too. You decide what best means. Any coins are welcome, from all countries. Oh, and by the way... Thanks dudes and dudettes for making this an awesome forum.

There was a thread like this a while back. My best find was VDB on the back of a cent I purchased as a 1909-S on ebay last year.

Second best find was my first wife. First best find was my first wife. Next and third was my 67 Imperial Fourth was my ........ Oh you mean in coins? At a garage/yard sale a lady had a large jar of pennies. The bottom was full of Indian cents and she said the latest one was put in there in 1955. She wanted me to count them but I just offered $50 and got it. Face value was about $35. Almost all in AU or better. Coin value was unbelievable.

1877 Indian Head from the coin dealer's junk box. Took it back and told them it was an 1877 IHC. They said, maybe. Bought 90% silver with it, sat on that for 6 months, and bought most of my 1914 D (XF) and 1911 S (MS63) Lincoln cents for my collection. Total money involved - 55 cents.

Best find was my very first Craigslist deal. I purchased a lot of silver coins at a flat rate per piece since the lady told me they were common and circulated. The silver dollars were around $13 each back then. I counted out the pieces and glanced at them casually to make sure no CC mint marks and then paid her. When I got home I found an 1894-P in there in F-12 condition. Not bad! Sorry I never took pics of it.

I don't know where the pics are now and cannot find the post anymore (must have been archived), but the first time I decided to try my hand at half dollar roll searching about 3 years ago turned out to be the best find ever for me. I got $130 of CW halves and scored around 5 Franklin's, 6 Walkers, I think it was 25 or 30 1964 Kennedy's and around 60+ 40% Kens.
My next best wasn't really a find so much as a win. That was 3rd prize, a 1958 ANACS graded Proof set and 1st prize, an 1882 $5 gold that graded AU 55. They cost me $26 for the raffle tickets.

My Best "Score" was $80 face of silver Kens from $110 of CWR halves. The one that made me the most happy was getting my first (and only) Peace dollar from a bank teller!

I have a couple of best finds. The first occurred over 40 years ago when I was searching pennies to fill my blue Whitman folders. After rushing through my homework, I would look through $5 - $10 of pennies most evenings. One night I found a 1914-D and most of the wheat lines were visible. Many years later, I sent it to PCGS and it came back as VF35. Not bad for a 1 cent cost. Then just a couple weeks ago while vacationing in Los Angeles I picked up a 1883-CC Morgan dollar in the GSA pack at an antique shop for $113.

I have three. Last year, I found an AU50 1939 D nickel in my change. I thought it was a '59 D. But then I saw the 3. I was pretty excited. I got ever more excited when I saw its mintage and found out it was a key date. The other was a 1861 seated half with VF details for $7 at a pawn shop. Unfortunately it has an unsightly hit that obliterates most of liberty's head and continues through the coin to the other side, where it wipes out the area under the eagle. Lets just say, if it had a mintmark, its gone now. But of course, I still like it! And my first (and only) WAM, a 2000, found roll-searching.
