I am going to post some of my favorite fakes. This may help others.

This is a fake $1 type coin I saw once referred to as the Barber Dollar. This was the silver dollar to accompany the Stella $4 gold piece.

This 1884 looks pretty good.

The weight is off 19.1 Gr.

It is the same size as a silver dollar.

It has a medal orientation.

This one doesn't look bad until you look close.

It is the right size and weighs 21.2 gr.

It is non-magnetic.

They never made an 1887-CC until now and not in Carson City.

amazing how many different types of coins that have been faked - I would have never thought of many of these without seeing them here or noticing them on ebay (which is a great place for collectors of fakes to build their collections!)

i dont own any of the fakes I am going to list and I don't have any pictures of them because it is hard to take a picture of somthing you don't own, NONE of these coins were stamped copy .
here it goes,
1. 1779 Trade dollar, steel ,underweight, someone at the flea market tried to sell me one of these,i told him it was fake being they didndt make them in 1779, he walked off and tried to sell it to someone else,

2.complete set of Morgan silver dollars, steel, underweight, someone offered a set of these to a friend of mine for 200.00 he stuck a magnet to them, it stuck, he sent the guy on his way,

3.fake 1921 Peace dollar, steel, underweight, a vendor at the flea market had thousands of 4 coin sets, the first 3 coins were easy to spot as being fake,(a Kennedy half dollar the size of a silver dollar, same for the penny and quarter huge!, the scary coin was the 1921 Peace dollar in the set, it looked perfect! if a magnet didnt stick to it, it would have passed for the real thing, the dealer was playing dumb saying he "didn't know if they was real or not" even after I told him they was fake, and he was selling those sets like crazy for 12.00! all the greedy people thinking they was buying a 1921 silver dollar for nothing, thinking they was going to make a killing selling it to a coin shop. it was a sad thing to watch, and he had big plasic totes full of them, thousands of sets and people was eating him alive, he coudn't take the money fast enough,

4. this coin I bought a year ago and got my money back, bought from a dealer, 1/10 ounce gold chinese panda proof.paid 145.00, took it home to look it up, guess what ? they never made a proof in that year! I dont remember the year, took it out of it's 2x2 and weighed it, way under weight! then I took and scratched the edge with a stone and hit it with nitric acid, COPPER! I took it back the next day, scary scary scary!
