I really haven't studied klippes as much as cobs or even portrait 8R (out of my usual price range, though I've almost pulled the trigger on a few so-so sea-salvaged pieces)... From what I've looked at, the piece looks legit. The surfaces are certainly that of a struck piece, not a "cast"... There are a few die cracks and some roughness in the legends (e.g., around "ARVM" of "HISPANIARVM"), but looking at the overall surfaces, I would chalk that up to striking issues. Also, you bought it from a quality dealer... and not that this means anything at all, but I haven't seen any high-quality fakes of these like I've seen with cobs and pillar 8R.
Could you post some decent photos of the edge? Just want to see if they look as they should (though at 26.4g, this "klippe" might have been "clipped" a bit in circulation).
The one interesting feature is that on the cross side, there's a rather pronounced inverted mirroring of the shield side (die clash?). I had never seen this b4 on a klippe... in searching a little bit, I find a piece that Heritage auctioned a few years back that shows something similar (see below).
That price wasn't a bargain, I'd say, considering it does has condition issues (the small drill marks, plus the scratching along the cross spoke)... However, it is a fairly nice grade (granted, most are), has nice centering, and non-salvaged klippes that aren't fully holed and/or have the Guatemala C/M are somewhat hard to find.
