I got my 2 beautiful ASE 2011 W proofs in the mail yesterday. Dancing fruit time

As always, these gems are a thing of beauty. I think we all take too many things for granted in this modern age we live in. Can you imagine the "magic" that people in the 1500's would have thought needed to take place in order for something of this high of a standard of quality - in engineering and aesthetics - to be readily available? It truly is a miracle something like this can be wrestled out of the ore it was found in.

Anyway, one of them came without the little white insert that tells the specs of the coin. Does this make the acquisition an error? Think it would command a premium?[:o)

You sending that one back for a replacement?

I went to the 9th Street Mint office in DC on Thursday to pick some up. They stopped selling the proofs over the counter. Mail order only so I replaced my order on line.

Maybe with multiple ASE orders, they are sending just one insert to save money/paper? Not much of a point in sending two of them if they say the same thing.

Yes they did. But I have it made on this. You see, I made a deal with my wife.

Despite my love of cutting edge technology, I absolutely detest cell phones. It never failed, a deer in my sights, or a large trout on the line and the cell phone would ring! Yes, I'd always forget to put it on vibrate.

So I made a deal with my wife 3 years ago when she wanted to upgrade her cell phone/contract. I told her I was willing to put out for the cell phone contract if I could get a couple of ASEs as my "cell phone" bill payment each year. It only takes about 2 months worth of cell phone bills to pay for a couple of ASEs so she could not say no. So I got on the mint's subscription list for these. I only get two of them - but this is all I want. One is for the set and the other one for future trading/selling/passing on.

I to am a Twofer subscriber. I got an email Monday coins were shipped. Fed ex has had them at our local hub for 3 days now. I called today to find out what was up, and turns out their waiting for Post Office to pick up and deliver. A little crazy I think.
