I was out to lunch with some coworkers a few weeks ago. One of the guys spotted a penny on the floor, picked it up, and it was a 1905 Indian Head in approximately VF condition.

I practically passed out. What are the odds? 10 million to 1?

This reminds me of what happened when I scoured my cafeteria's floor when I was in seventh grade, back in 2003; I found my first Mercury dime, a 1942. It was in a blob of ketchup, interestingly, and I didn't know what it was until I showed my teachers and they told me it was a Mercury dime.

It's funny what you find in the most unexpected places and the memories you'll have long after finding that object.

a co-worker just went to lunch with me.
In her change she got back a 1994 U.S. Quarter Dollar.
Now this may not sound strange but...... I am in Melbourne Australia.
and I was just chatting to her telling about how I want to start collecting U.S. coins.

she handed it to me and I is going into my album soon as I get home!

Maybe someone probably thought it was foreign and disregarded it, and it ended up on the floor. Still, a great find!

Nice! How about a pic? (you had to know that was coming. )

What kills me is how many people I've seen over the years actually throw cents / small change away. Not just in the road or something, but in the garbage. As if they can't be bothered with it.

I agree with vermontsenium, someone's lucky coin, too many beers and classic coins don't mix...
