If anyone can tell me anything about this coin I would appreciate it. I don't know if it is genuine or a replica or its market value.
I know its from Mexico or New Spain as it was called at the time.

Seems to be a whole bunch of threads with the same title - have you been trying different postings?

I am sorry to inform you that the "coin" is a modern replica. As such it has no value beyond that of a curiosity piece. If you could, please test it with a magnet and post a picture of the edge of the coin for information purposes so others here on the forum can see what to look out for.

Commonly-seen replica with imprecise replication of the original's detail.

RE: the magnet thing... NONE of the current crop of rather good, accurate weight fakes coming out of Asia are made of magnetic. People read that and then get it in their heads that doesn't stick to a magnet = genuine. That only weeds out the pieces that really would only fool... fools.

You know darn well THESE don't stick to magnets:

I agree very modern replica made for tourists - value $1 as a curio.

Thanks all of you for the info. I did try the magnet just for the heck of it. It didn't stick at all. Then again I know nothing about the metals used in coins. If its just a modern replica I will hold on to it as a keepsake.
