Quote: No refunds on slabbed coins. So I wonder if that SEGS slab discloses the badly tooled hair? I can only guess this coin will be sold for more than its worth. It's corroded and damaged intentionally--I'd avoid it.

I would avoid it too. You can see why it is graded by SGS.... ANACS, NGC, and PCGS would not go near it. I would stay away, and I agree with DV, it will probably be sold for more than it's worth.

DVCollector, as a learning tool for me. How can you tell it was "damaged intentionally"? Also, who is SEGS? Not listed in the Glossary and a strange slab. I would assume a third grade grading system. If that is the correct terminology. Thanks.

Almost looks like something someone shot at with a shotgun a long time ago. They used to do that with shot shells in a revolver to make it appear they are fantastic shots.

I asked the seller for pictures of the holder and who graded the coin just to see what type of response I'll get. I'll post whatever his response is when/if I get one. Ed ANA LM-3175

Yeah, I'd stay away from that one. It's ugly and unattractive IMO.

Does it say what type of edge it is?

Oops, it said plain edge. Apologies.
So that would make it a S.76B. The diagnostics all look right so that would make the issue "retooling." Depending how crazy the bidding goes, or if people stay away, it might be an interesting buy. Who wouldn't want a 1795 LC, even a scudzy one?
Take it out of the slab, keep it in your pocket for a year or two and viola, the issues might disappear. Been done many times.
