It's time to grade your grey-sheets and calculators! What do you think I ended up spending tonight at auction?

I don't have greysheet nor a calculator on hand, but I think you did good if you actually did stay under $5,000. Were you naughty and went over? lol.
Awesome lot you got there. One of thode gold coins is worth more than my collection.

I bet you spent exactly $5000. For 5k, I think you will do just fine on the group of coins.

hope you got a good deal, I would never have bought any of the silver dollars for very much even if they are graded in those conditions, I'm not sure of the value, my meaning of the gold coins as many don't carry much of a premium currently over volatile gold bullion prices right now unless they are rare mintage..I hope you did well, and looks like some coins may have not made it onto the pictures you sent in...

I believe you did very well, great lot. Actually I am buying more silver. I think silver is going to continue to steadily rise and it has been showing that. Gold has become too volatile......to many peaks and valleys for my taste. It is my sense that silver will be better in the long run, and I am in it for the long haul. I am not intent on selling my stuff for a looong time.

She understand the conecpt. She doesn't however understand why I will not sell my gems (1799 silver dollar). I buy and sell a lot of bullion and such. When I told ehr I spent under $5000 the first thing she said was, "Thats not what I asked. I asked how much you spent." She knows me too well, but she also understands this is something that I am passionate about and it sparks a lot of conversation between us. She has even gone to an auction for me before while I was on duty and bid on proof and mint sets for me. :)

Looks like a great deal to me considering the current spot prices. That 1863-S half eagle is a scarce date and worth a premium even in VF. Congrats!

I don't know the gold off the top of my head, but you got some silly deals on those Morgans.

You did very well for the money spent. To have a wife who you can talk openly about your hobby and that will fill in for you at an auction is a true blessing. You are a lucky man. I know many collectors who have to be very secretive on how much they spend on their hobby because of their wives. Ed ANA LM-3175
