What is a good price to ask? I would try to sell on here but people only want to pay silver value on them. Thanks

With all due respect, if you're asking much more than melt, you're asking too much. An MS63 1921-D Morgan is still only a $50 coin. Selling in bulk like that, $1700 is probably at the top of the market. Any value-added varieties?

My asking price is $1635. Had a couple people email wanting $1585 and such, but I figure i'll hold out. I think they're worth it.

I don't think $1635 is out of line.

good point fred.
it was only last april that I bought some "junk" peace and morgans for $17 each. that was when silver was $18/oz I think..
depending on WHEN you acquired them and for WHAT price/oz I would say any profit is a good profit. and to be honest, craigslist doesn't have THAT great of a track record. I dont trust craigs anymore. especially with that much coin. doesn't matter where you meet.
but if you had them for some time, that $1585 "lowball" doesn't seem so low IMO...
if you were to break up the lot a a little bit, maybe more people here would like to buy them. but I dont know your circumstances or timeline to unload these. best of luck

What you paid for them has no relevance for what their value is right now (neither does what what they were worth two years ago) or what you should try to sell them for. That being said, I would rather sell them here for $1600 than for $1700 on ebay or deal with the risk of craigslist. There always seems to be people who will pay a little premium over melt for Morgans and Peace dollars, though usually not so much in bulk - not to mention that you leave out some potential customers who aren't in position to spend that much money.

I agree with Super Dave.....Silver Melt looks like $31.80 per coin currently..If you use Ebay/Paypal/s&H costs you may net less then melt. If you can get melt for the mix you have I think you would doing ok.

I'd like to know where you can buy common date Morgan dollars for just $50.00 as they have been at $65.00 since silver spot price was at the $48.00 level at all of the coin shows in my area. August 19 CDN grey sheet has the 1921-D in MS-63 bid / ask at $60.00 / $65.00. Ed ANA LM-3175

Fine. You're right, of course; I'm still living in last year. A rising tide floats all ships.

I think if you get the $1635 you are doing very good. What Morgans are selling for has a lot to do with the area you are in and how your buying them... E bay/online, Craigslist or local coin shops.
In the past 3 weeks I bought 54 Morgans (not all at same time) for $30 and $31 each. Yes silver was at $48.00 but it is not there right now.
I buy them for my father, because he has no coin shops in his area (Alaska).
The coin shops here are buying hundreds of Morgans. They can not sit on them. I know what the big bullion dealers are paying, if you are in the right place at the right time, a person can get a good deal by saving the dealers shipping charges they have to send to the big bullion dealers.
I guess what I am saying is, depending on what others are paying in your area, could have a lot to do with getting $1635/$34 per coin. If I counted right you have 48 coins. I think SuperDave has it right, saying closer to melt is most likely what you would get.

Um, http://www.alaskacoinexchange.com/index.htmMike, the owner, is a member here, and was a dealer I wholeheartedly recommended before he knew Coin Community existed. He has just about anything, and is especially well-known as a prime source for pieces which are of lower grade but still nice.
