You mean steal a better quality coin from someone like me, and substitute the lesser coin into my set? Really?

More likely Large Corp. #1 sends in 200 sets. All coins are pooled, then the 70's pulled out and organized into sets. Then slabbed so ALL of the 70's sets have consecutive serial numbers, then the same thing is done with the 69's. With your sets, if you have 5, they will grade each set as they come, giving you a mix of 69's and 70's in each set. You receive them and re-arrange them to get one set of 70's, one mixed set and 3 sets of 69's, but now your serial numbers aren't consecutive.

This only really matters if you give a patoot about labels, slabs, the difference between 69 and 70 and if your numbers are consecutive. I personally don't, and the first thing that happens to any slabbed coin I get is the slab goes bye-bye.

HSN and ANACS and ICG do that out in the open. HSN has exclusive rights to "First Day of Issue" labeling that has its own serial numbers for each set series, made up after the coins are graded. Nothing hidden, nothing secret, just misleading to the uneducated.

Is it really that far fetched for anyone to think that the "things that go on behind those closed doors" are NOT to your advantage. The best part I can see is the TPG'S get paid one way or another......This is not the days of Father knows best, or Leave It To Beaver. Just another opinion.....

Big business pays big money for the privilage to have things their way, and us, the little guy in the equation, will never know, one way or another........ I love the OGP......

PS, Remember, the sets you send in, you NEVER saw, and the graders know all about the poor packaging problems, I do not think it is a far fetched thought, or practice.......

So I am naive because I am not a conspiracy theorist? Well, so be it....no argument to follow

Nevermind....strike that....I was momentarily confused with the whole "First Day of Issue", the "Consecutive Serial Numbers", "First Strike", and the odds of a " TPG" taking "my" coins which might be PF-70/MS-70 and switching them with others (big companies).....if I waited 6 years what the affect would be.....or "odds" at getting "my actual" coins back.

Hmmmm...thought provoking.

The numistist either buys a set of 70's or sends in enough unopened sets to get a set of 70 grades.

Receive the coins and notice some are not TRUE 70 grades. Return to the TPG and ask for a correctly graded coin? Thoughts?

"You're not a hoarder if you buy two sets and sell one that pays for both...you are a smart person "

True but I was referring to buying 5 sets to hang on to just because I could...

I'm content with my one, which means there are at least 4 more available for others to enjoy/ be greedy over ;)

Something that the ASE collectors have not mentioned yet....the 25th anniversary set actually, added FIVE specimens to the collection, not two.

The three "common" ASE's will have mintages of LESS than 100k. Not all of them will be graded by TPG's....so...does this make them to the TRUE sleepers in the set?

The two ASE's that were produced for this set, specifically, will always be recognized. But the three common ASE's will ONLY be recognized if they are in plastic with First Strike/25th Anniversary SET on the label.
