They took the picture in a pool, it's just a reflection of the caustics! It's a ghost! That's what the blue color is! You wouldn't want a haunted slab, now would you? It's on sale at K-mart, it's a blue-light special! Ms. Liberty is depressed! Her S.A.D. is kicking in early. It's just a Picasso painting of a Mercury dime! Dangit Dave, if you win that coin, I get visitation rights.

I desire it to help refine the axial-lighting setup in the photography lab I'm building. I see staggering potential in this one. Assuming I win it at a non-stupid price - as a learning investment for me, I may go slightly stupid - it will be offered here as a Pocket It Now at the hammer price once my purposes are accomplished.

How about I win it, and loan it to you? I would love to have beautiful blue pictures of my beautiful blue coin. I'm stupider anyway.

That would also work. I don't expect this to hammer at less than $85....

I have some other toner Mercs (a nice variety of different kinds of luster and toning colors) that might help with your lab too if you're interested...

What would have been a knock-down-drag-out "keep your filthy hands off my coins!" thread on just about any other forum has become, as expected, a thread of cooperation. Man, I love this place!

WHOA! That Heritage went for $230! Way over the $86 I expect this one to go for! And being relegated to the 'darkside'. Gee I was trying to come out into the light!

The proof went for exactly Numismedia FMV for the grade. The mintage numbers for Mercury dime proofs aren't that big, so it seems like a not-unreasonable price in supply/demand terms. Don't worry, there's probably plenty of nice USA stuff for you. You can have the toner Barbers if you want, I won't fight you over those.

Dang, that really blue nickel is up to $160 already with 5 hours left! Numismedia lists a FMV of $30 in that grade. I'm glad I wasn't after that one...
