Over the past 6 months or so, I've accumulated a few canadian coins from the late 1800s/early 1900s. I really would like to sell them for USD or trade for US coins.

So I'm curious if I go the sales route if this website would be best, or if ebay would be the best. Also if I should break them down by type (1 cent, 5cent , ect) , sell individually or just as one big lot.

Best to try them here first individually. Too many fees on ebay.

You will probably get at best a wholesale price if you try to sell them in one block. You will need patience and time to sell them individually though. You could also look at consigning them en bloc to one of the usual auctions in Canada (Moore, Bell, Lower Canada, TCNC) or Heritage if they are good enough.

I guess I'll try on here first, however to a point I have no clue what they're valued at , would the best way then just be to auction off all the coins? Some of em are worth a bit (1889 25c) , however some of them I have no clue on (Mid 1800s Canadian bank tokens).

Canadian pre-Confederation tokens can be tricky to deal with. Lots of subtle varieties; some are quite valuable. There is a Charlton catalogue available. An unknowledgable seller with good coins could be taken advantage of pretty easily.

I have sold maybe 400 traders on ebay....almost all sent regular mail (carefully packed). Every delivery in North America has been successful. Courier/registered mail would protect you from a fraudulent buyer.

You probably could just ask here on the forum what they were worth and for any other help you would need.
