I've got $500 burning a hole in my pocket. I'm considering purchasing an 1875 CC 20 cent piece to complete my 1875 silver set.
Anyone else have any ideas, recommendations, desires?
What would you spend $500 on if you had it?

Honestly...I would buy some silver bullion. Probably American Eagles. ...with any luck, in a month, you will realize a 25% profit.

Since I go to coin shows all the time and one is coming up next Sunday, any MS graded Lincoln Cents or Mercury dimes would be on a list for that money. I presently have well over 100 Albums but oddly enough, none for a 20 Cent piece. You just gave me an idea for the next show though.

I was going to pick up a 1942/41 D dime this month, but have to save it for a new refrigerator. The Whirlpool finally is giving the run for my money.

I'd go for a higher grade draped bust or liberty cap large cent. Just personal preference though, get what YOU want;)

Id buy something unique, like a tough dated seated or barber coin. Well I would, personally but as others say it depends on what you're interested in.

An 1812 half in AU condition would be my choice.

I'd go for a nice indian half eagle, or a key date as Dave suggested. You could also swing a nice VG-F 1909-s Indian cent.

I agree with completing the set... But if it were me, i'd probably go with a nice 1837 no stars dime.

Gothic: Buy whatever it is that will give you the most joy....there has been a lot of great suggestions here but the only thing that will matter is that you spent the $$ on something you'd like to keep or have wanted for awhile, etc. You can even split it and buy 2 or more coins with it if that's what suits you. I think I'd go with something pre-1880 that's been slabbed (with the exception of a Morgan dollar). Reason is because I like to have the stuff that very few others have, and that stuff was mostly low mintage and has low high grade pops.....many people nowadays, for instance, have no idea that we ever minted a 20 cent piece or a Three Cent piece, etc. And I do love paleo's idea of a BU FE cent. you'll have to keep us posted on what you do buy!
