All right! I've been skimming over this thread, now I should start posting.
How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Second-Edition!-Ended-At-1492-Waiting-On-1491
Thailand, 1 baht BE2515 (1972)
Commemorating the investiture of Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn. I'm afraid I had to look that one up, but it means "to be formally invested with honours or rank". This guy is still the only son of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and is the next in line for the throne. In 1977, another commemorative was issued for the investiture of Crown Princess Sirindhorn, his younger sister. Since the Thai constitution has allowed women to take the throne since 1974, she's third in line.

Of course, my 1971 dated avatar needs to make an appearance.

Image credit to GR58, originally posted here.

I hope he does not mind.

Perhaps he has a better 1971 coin to post! I did not want to take the chance that he does and my avatar misses its chance.

Again, my thanks to him for sending me this coin.

I started this over a hour ago .. looking for a nice
'71 Ike ... with out digging out the Dansco's.

After finding 88 of them .. I ended up thinking it
would have been easier getting the Dansco's.

just to be clear .. I am only posting pics of one of the coins that is sitting on top of the other 86, 1971 Ikes

What could be better than that custom made Ike, I enjoy seeing it as often as possible.

GR58, your 1971 Ike proof looks good, and the picture background is very distracting nice

Nothing but American coins! We've got to fix this.
How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Second-Edition!-Ended-At-1492-Waiting-On-1491
Spain, 50 centimos, 1971
Here's Generalissimo Francisco Franco, looking pretty old in his second official coinage portrait... he would die 4 years later, at 82 years old. Generalissimos are almost always bad news... they're nearly as bad as Grand Viziers. If you think it's dated 1966, look closer at the little stars around the date... the actual date is inside them.

A 1970 commemorative from the Netherlands for 25 years of peace after a ravaging WW II. It marks "Nederland herrijst" on the reverse. (The Netherlands rebuilt.) This coin looks as though it has two obverse sides, with the reverse picturing Queen Wilhelmina, reigning for over half a century until 1948. The 10 guilder face value is in between the dates 1945 & 1970. This commemorative was minted for circulation. Common circulation silver 1 Guilder and 2 1/2 Guilder coins had been withdrawn in 1967.

Reverse:

The true obverse pictures the late Queen Juliana, reigning in 1970.

Brilliant!

Technically, it is part of a set. At least, that is how I see it.
