We continue to carry the roll searching torch with its ups and downs. Lately lots of 2023 P in circulated MWR; today alone 16 DDRs, 2 clashes and a funky series of die chips under the F I and E in FIVE CENTS. The benefit of being 15 minutes from the Philly mint, eh.
In the last box, to go with the 2023 P oddities above, we've corralled two more buffalos - 1917 and 1936 both P; 52 S; three 2009 P; a handful of 58 and 59 P better dates; and a 2005 S bison proof. We have recently lucked into some very gemmy modern coins for the later date albums.
I'll post up some photos of the good finds once we get on some better boxes but the find rate of pre-1960 for this box was disappointing compared to recent history. Still, 2 buffalos in one box is awesome especially when they're dated!

Finally broke the War Nickel drought with a 1945-S found in a Loomis roll today. It's one I already have, so not an album filler, but I won't complain. Cheers!

Picked up my usual $20 from the credit union today. Five MWR, five CWR. I broke it all down into decades and groups to analyze tonight, but I did find my second-ever 2009 nickel (another 2009-D). A little surprising that after 4000+ nickels, I have only found two. Also pulled out some gleaming 1982 and 1983 nickels that look at least AU, possibly MS. Might post those for grading later.
It is really curious to me comparing the 1982 nickels with the reverse of '77 vs. '82. Under magnification, the reverse of 1982 is super crisp, and the 1977 is fuzzy and flowing. But to the eye, all the radial die flow and orange peel features really give the coin a soft and lustrous look that is considerably more pleasing. The new reverse looks cold and a little lifeless by comparison.

Finished my nickels box today. All in all, I had 8 from the 1940s (not including the War Nickel), 10 from the 1950s, a 2009-D, and a 1945-S War Nickel. So not a bad box. Cheers!

Been crazybusy with life and work changes lately... did manage to grab 3520 nickels today, and amongst them were a 1938, 1939-S , 1941-S Large S, and 1950 Philly Jeffersons, along with 3 2009-Ds.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!
