I'm really not sure I follow you on all of that buddy. There are more than just pimples that differentiate these coins. Vams 5, 6, 14.5, 14.8, and 14.19 each have unique obverses, not shared with any other VAM, the similarities among these dies may be subtle, but they definitely do indicate that they are separate die pairings and that is enough to qualify them for individual VAM status. As to the die state progression of the 14.8, 14.19, & 14.5, I am not entirely sure, as I just don't remember all of that stuff, but it seems as though the progression on these coins was determined based on the PL surfaces of the reverse die being the earliest used (14.8), and digressing to the 14.19, and down the line to the 6, then the 14.5, and finally the 7. I could be wrong about all of that, but that is the way I recall it, everything was based on the surface appearance of the reverse on high grade examples. If this was anything other than the 8TF, I would be more than skeptical about this method of die state attribution, but the 8TFs were so hurried that I really doubt that polishing actually occurred. The 7/8TF dies were being used within two weeks of the beginning of the 8TFs debut, so I imagine that the 8TF were just used til they failed, and replaced without any overhaul. Since there are no cudded coins, inspection of each of these new design Morgans probably was quite stringent. I have little doubt though that many of the 8TF dies ended life early as a result of the rush job in their creation, and cudded coins were struck, and remelted immediately.

Perhaps the example of the 14 series is incorrect. I don't have all of the data, yet the 91-0 is a progression we can all follow with what is provide....with out all of the supplements....but many examples are founded on small features.

at this point in time. 4 fingers around the bottle,, and some time researching. not all of the answers can I quote, if the examples don't compute for the 14 series, my example of the 91-0... no one can dispute...

Gene, as I reread these last two pages, I am embarrassed to the point of tears, as should you be. Never again will I stay up late at night past the point of rational thinking, and then cross over into the wasteland of giddiness.

Zeewool, I was only trying to point out that unless you are in that medium as an observor as the force is applied, You can only use diferential equations to determine how the metal will flow. The prudent engineer will attempt calculate how each level of the manifold will affect the flow. Stop and think how many levels and boundries to flow there ar on a coin. Other than that Yes I am a Dork. As Socrates observed an unenlightened Dork.
