The mint, suprisingly enough, is contacting customers regarding bad credit card info. I ordered a set at 5:40 p.m. and eventually had my order completely wiped off the website. I received an "Urgent" email yesterday from the mint. It was about my credit card. I never updated it because I never expected to get a set. Yesterday, I checked after the email and my order was back on the site showing reserved and today after giving them new credit card info, it shows shipped. Now I wish I would have bought more than one set!

Kuff, awesome news! I just put my set up for sale here before I post it on ebay. I figured what the heck since VACookey has one as well.

Great news Kuff! I am surprised they are doing this after the runaround they have given me.

Was at Parsipanny (NJ) monthly coin show last weekend and thought I'd share my experience in unloading an unopened box of 2 sets. Not many dealers had any sets for sale. One table had a sign that he was selling sets for $599 but crossed out with "Sold Out" over it. I have no idea how many he may have sold at that prices if any. Another dealer was making a market of $500(B)-$700(S) per set. He had a few opened sets and a couple of mint boxes behind him. he wouldn't budge from offering me $1100 for my two (unopened) sets. I passed. I didn see him buy a box of 5 sets (I think) from somone right before I chatted with him. Overall dealers sounded bearish on future prices of the set but of course that's to their advantage if they think I'm selling. I wasn';t carrying around my box or anything but they may have figured me for a seller anyway. One guy even told me that he read in "Numismatist" (?) magazine the the Mint was going to make more sets! Though this guy did also "If you have 'em then save 'em. In 20 years they'll be very valuable." (Gotcha buddy) The very next guy told me that "No way the mint is making more sets but he himself has gentlement bets as to when prices settle down to the $500 range. He thinks by year end. One other dealer had one raw set on his table and he was complaining about how much he paid for it in the run up of prices shortly after release and that he was going to loose money on it. I told this guy I had a box of two to sell and he took my number. I tried not to let it be known I was a seller to the other dealers. But they may have figured anyway. So at this point I'm thinking what should I do? Should I sell into a market that seems much less exceited about the set than I expected and to dealers who were more pessimistic/bearish than I expected. Again here I understand that they will talk it down if they think I am a seller. So I resign myself to go get my box from the car and say to myself I'll just get the best I can. Hoping for something close to the $700/set ebay prices (before fees of course) but expecting something closer to $600 per set. And when I walk back in with my box I don't get past the first table before that dealer shouts "Whoa...an unopened box...". he himself wasnt a buyer but he pointed me over to the very next dealer at the table next to him and this guy takes about 1 minute to offer me $1200 for my box. I took it. I needed to get out of there. So I didn't parade my unopened box around the whole place but I am wondering how different (if at all) would the reaction/attitude have been if these guys actually saw me and my box. Clearly not every dealer had sets and I didn't talk to many of them but I suspect that the all the negative talk was a strategy to low ball me. And once they saw an actualy opportunity to pick up an unopened box of some sets that their attitudes may have been somewhat different. Back in my car that dealer who took my nnumber had left me a message he had "found a buyer" for my sets. Wondering what people here are hearing from or their experiences with actual dealers on these sets. I see ebay activity just like everyone else of course. But there a lot of things the bid history and completed sales may not be telling. Just wondering about any face to face exchanges

It's seems we've hit a top on prices for now, and the are coming down a bit. The local dealers and collectors I've talked with, talk prices down when they are trying to buy and up when selling (of course). A few dealers are talking down the 70 grades as well, saying how common the 70's are. We have a temporary over supply right now of these sets. Once supply dries up, prices will rise again. Many people have bought or are buying sets of 70 for $1300 and more. I can't imagine these already sold sets coming back on market anytime soon, and if they do, they will not be looking to sell at a loss. I sold one set of NGC 70 w/ogp to a dealer for $1275 on 12/5. Prices might come down a bit more, but not much, and then climb again, but I believe we have seen the highs for awhile.
Just my opinion and experience thus far.
I'll be shopping a few sets for trade/sale in Jan at the FUN show in Orlando, hopefully prices are at least what they are now.

Of course the dealers are only going to want to pay 500-600 a set. They want to get the most profit possible. Which I understand. Which is why I am not going to sell mine to one. I will either sell it here or on ebay. I am sure most of the argument against the high premiums is the same old "its just bullion" that flows out of such folks mouths. They have been being made for 25 years but they still cant manage to take their blinders off to what a "real" coin is. About the only thing I sell to dealers is junk silver.

Actually the high was around two weeks ago...we are now trying to find a bottom Normal price progression for this type of issue...hang on to them if you can 'cuz this ain't the time to sell...great time to buy though...any of those RP's and S's at stupid prices are great pick ups...100k...2nd lowest of ANY non-error ASE... Put them away for a while....watch the inventory dry up...those 69 sets are $1100-1200 easy in a year

I keep wondering why the prices of these sets has dropped. With the low mintage, they should be selling easy in the $800 - $900 range. I have to wonder if it is the economy. Or maybe something along the lines, if a collector did not get one at issue price, they do not want one. Also many collectors are putting together sets of bullion coins or single proof box sets. The way they are collecting can be done by purchasing the single coins from the mint or bullion dealers. I am not sure how dancso or other albums will be ... will they have spots for all the 25th ASE coins? I am starting to think that the slab collectors are a driving force of how these sets are trading. In my experience many collectors have a comfort level for how much they will spend for any coin. These sets could be at levels where many just don't want to pay. Of course it could be, some are just waiting to see where these sets will level off. I know some dealers that have 5 to 10 sets .. and have not sold any of them, they are asking in the $750 to $850 range for opened sets.

I think it is more along the lines that people who didn't get one aren't buying. That was with me. Until a few days ago when I found out I was getting a set afterall, I had no intentions of buying a set. I don't particularly have a ASE set so going without it wasn't a major deal. I just wanted it because of the low mintage and what was offered. I typically don't buy any North American silver. It is boring for me. Same design every year. I do however collect Pandas and Brittanias because of the change in designs. And I have a few Koalas, Kangaroos, and Kukoburos.

I think it is more along the lines that people who didn't get one aren't buying. The sale prices that are being reported are realized prices...someone bought them. There are a LOT of buyers out there BUT there are way too many sets for sale right now to justify any price increase or even stability. I think it's a great sign that the price is still 250% above issue price showing that there are still more buyers than sets. It's all supply and demand....If these were a one per HH item then prices would be double what they are now. Yes, the dealers would have their supply but there would not be the newbies with their boxes of 5 and credit card issues flooding the market. Once this all plays out then we can talk real prices..... Just yesterday there were 198 COMPLETED sales of FULL sets on ebay and MANY,MANY graded single coin sales. They all had buyers that beat out many other potential buyers. There are a lot of collectors out there that are interested in these sets....once the glut starts drying up then it will get interesting.

After referencing this site for info, I just thought I'd share some info:
My most recent box of 5 sets (order time about 3:37 pm, # 3837--) (no rattles inside the box) came back from NGC on 12/1/11 as such:
RP 3x70, 2x69 S 4x70, 1x69 W Proof, 4x70uc, 1x69uc W 3x70, 1x69, 1x68 Bullion 2x70, 3x69
I have other sets currently at NGC, after talking with them on 12/7/11, they are currently playing catch up due mostly to these sets; and were opening boxes they had received through 11/29, so expect a few extra days if you use them.

Numismaticbullion! Yours was the first (MS or PR) 68 that I recall seeing/reading about. The 69's and 70's are abundant in this limited edition of 100K. I am not surprised that prices are falling (at least tapering off).

That was me. I really wanted a set but I could not jusify paying anything over issue price. Just didn't have the FRN's Would have had a hard time convincing the Mrs. to let me spend more than that as well.
