I went to my local show today and bought a few upgrades to some of my Mercury dimes, check out another table that have an album that label 3 for $40, curious what maybe of interest. I decided to pick up 3 from the album, first was a lower grade AU 1919 Merc.

Second is this Counter Stamped 'X' 1917 S dime, low grade VG at best, but I never see a counter stamped Merc dime before, why not. I definitely over paid, but I can't win every time.

Third is this large die break 3 cent nickel, missing at least 30% of the obverse design, the reverse have also a small Cud that begin to form around 7 O'Clock. And gas pocket holes that aren't deep that I am not sure of what it is on both obverse and reverse. I don't collect 3 cent nickel, but the error was interesting that prompted me to buy it.

The 2 young dealers didn't know what to make out with this one, and decided to ask the older dealer across from the room, came back with it saying is OK to sell it with the labeled price.

You know I gotta see the other Mercs you got. And I think that 3 cent is a huge delamination, not a die break.

I cannot stop looking at it.
My first ever Liberty Seated purchase.
May 20, 2012.
Less than 6 hours old.
BOY!
It pays to make friends with the coin dealers.

[$64 at the local New Haven, CT Coin Show.]

Once again, first dibs on THOUSANDS of dollars
worth of coins.
"Maybe you will find something that you want."

Duh?
He asked for $65, but I only had $64.
We agreed!

I think you're right Captain, a good chunk of the coin is missing, perhaps a good half thickness wise looking from the side.

Die break would normally be flat or raised I think, have to go over my references, besides those I got a 1918 D in EF, 1924 S in EF, and 1939 S in about MS-63 or 64 for my Dansco. I forget my loop before going to the show, so I think the 18 D wasn't a good buy.

I am saving some for the upcoming ANA convention in August.

Bought this penny on ebay yesterday for under $5. I usually don't purchase newer coins, but I couldn't pass this one up!

That's awesome! Love the toning and it's a great looking coin. I'd pay $5 for it.

I went to the local coin store to look for Dansco supplies, but they didn't have what I was looking for. I started looking through a "junk" box for one of those cent size mint tokens that designated which mint. I pulled out two P mint tokens, and a UK 1 crown of Churchill that needs an acetone bath. Started talking and the guy had a 1922 no D LWC NGC VG10 at a reasonable price. After a quick trip to the bank, this little buddy came home with me.

Driving home from work yesterday.... I found these little guys at a garage sale.
It is not every day you find a 1931-S Lincoln Cent at a garage sale. Very nice!

it does feel good. And my album doesn't have empty spaces now. (Two are still slabbed, so I put a Philadelphia mint medal in the spot with a label)

Great idea on the Philly mint medals. When they were selling on ebay, I bought a couple of the Chinese fakes and put them in the empty holes in place of the slabbed ones - the holes look good this way also
