I don't think that plastic is doing you any favors on the detail, nice looking coin though, nice toning

EF45
Much easier from those pics.
Canadian grading of VF-AU coins is much less forgiving than US standards.
Only six dots are visible on the main band of the crown,
Significant wear on eyebrow and moustache,
Center dot on large maltese cross is worn down,
Raised portion of the orb shows significant wear,
Little nubs on the chain ornaments are worn,
On the reverse there is wear on the vertical beads of the crown as well as the knot of the ribbon.
An AU55 coin of this series will show only the slightest wear on the eyebrow.

It is a purty one tho. Better than my pictures.
Thank you for the excellent assessment.
I do think it makes that grade of XF45 so I can live with that.
CoinsandCanada website shows it would have a retail value between $140. XF and $230. AU

I suppose I'll have Lloyds of London
insure this for $200.00

Yes it's a truly nice coin.
A beautiful example of a one year type, a must have coin for any collector of Canadian 25cents.

EF-45, color worries me a bit for that grade.

The color is not well represented in these images.
I am pretty good at detecting a dipped or artificially toned coin. There's still a bit of cartwheel effect rolling this holder in my hand and some luster remains obvious.
It has a very light golden tone. Looks 100% original to me.
The appearance and eye appeal is considerably better than these pics.
Not to brag, about this coin at all. It's this cheezy camera that does not work well with coins.
No macro and things get washed out. Takes nice people pictures tho.
I wish I could do better but sorry.
I will be getting a better camera soon.

AU50-55 all day, from any TPG. Look at examples on Heritage.

Honestly all your pictures put together you get a pretty accurate representation of your coin. I still stand by original grade of EF45.
DBM gave a very accurate assessment of why this would only grade EF45 and not crack AU.
As for the comment above any US TPG would give this AU50-55 but ICCS or CCCS would not grade this above EF45 for sure.
This is still a highly collectable and desirable coin in this condition and I'm sure lots would love to add it to there collection. $200 is probably good insurance value.

Like Talonbat said, not by Canadian standards.
PCGS and NGC always overgrade these, their opinions are irrelevant by Canadian standards.
ICCS and CCCS and knowledgable Canadian collectors would see this coin as EF45.
We Canadians do not go on the US grading forums and tout ICCS and CCCS grades of US coins, we know they are irrelevant.
I don't see Brits or Aussies either on the US grading forums trying to promote and validate their grading standards.
Why do Americans feel some kind of urge to ram PCGS and NGC opinions down OUR throat?

Well, we all had a fun time with this quarter and I learned a lot about it. Also a bit about the difference in grading services. It shall remain raw. But now I can put an honest XF45 on the 2x2 so down the line it is graded properly. I never buy the slab, I buy the coin inside it.
I have slabbed coins, but I have never spent any money ( so far ) to have one graded.
Thank you all very much. This was a good education for me and hopefully others.
