This is an amazing looking set. Most of my life I lived just south of the border and so collected Canadian coins also. Although I have seen a lot of Canadian cents, this is the first one of this high of a quality I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing.

Quite the set. Concerning upgrades, do want everything at least MS65?

My first coin collection as a kid in the mid 1960s was Canadian pennies (oops one cent coins). Most are not mint and it is not my most valuable domination today but I have a soft spot in my heart for these coins so thank you for sharing.

That is one beautiful set. I only wish I had one half as nice.

Nicely done Skelly! A question from someone who knows little about Canadian coins: why did they continue with an earlier monarch after they produced coins with the latest one? I always thought the portrait matched the current ruler?

Thanks for the feedback. I hope to someday have MS-65 across the board, but the 1944 and the 1949 Points are going to make that a very expensive challenge.
TheNickelGuy, I have no plans to complete the George V set at this point. I like a uniform collection, and I can't afford the key dates in the grades I want. I think my next challenge (after Elizabeth) will be to go after the George VI Specimen cents.
Bump111, as far as I know they never went back to an old ruler after production started on the new ruler. Sometimes it took a while for the mint dies to catch up to the reigning monarch (which is why there are 1936 George V cents, and 1952 George VI cents, even though both kings died very early in those years.

Ah, that makes sense. So, did they mint 1952s with Elizabeth and George?

Bump111, they only made George VI in 1952, Elizabeth coins started in 1953.

A man after my own heart... This pleasantly reminded me of when I built a similar set in ICCS flips.... best of luck with your upgrades!! I am still working on getting my set switched over to PCGS, a little harder getting the 'Red' designation there... https://www.PCGS.com/setregistry/no...meset/118364

If you are including varieties, then you still need the scarcest one of them all...
1948 A to Small Denticles.... very, very hard to find in mint state.

SPP, good luck with the conversions. As you are already aware the copper composition of red 1941-1946 cents seems to be very different than red cents outside those years. I'm not sure the extent to which PCGS recognizes that fact when assigning the Red designation. My 1944 would be 50-50 to cross as red.
As for the 1948, I'm a completionist, but I don't have an unlimited budget. I find at certain points I need to draw a (very arbitrary) line in the sand. With Elizabeth cents, it's anything "hanging", "harp", "guitar", or "P non-magnetic". With George VI, it's the 1948 small denticles. I'm content to turn a blind eye to that particular variety since it lets me have a "complete" set, but if the right one turns up tomorrow...

Good job skelly423.. The 1942 & 1944 in mint state are somewhat hard to find, I have a ms-62 in '42 and my '44 is only AU But, yours are really nice.
