Oh C'mon, did you really have to ask on this one? Hopefully you get your money back, or cancel before it is shipped.

Thanks everyone for feedback! Jimbuck - I wanted a second opinion before I bought it. I had my suspicions, but I'm not very knowledgeable in regards to counterfeits

You did exactly what we suggest. Get our opinions BEFORE buying the coin!

Quote: I'm not very knowledgeable in regards to counterfeits I can't say I am either, but perhaps the easiest thing to remember is that counterfeiters never seem to know how to make the date look right. This is no exception.

Are y'all thinking that this is a modern counterfeit or a counterfeit from the times when Trade dollars circulated? If the latter, wouldn't it be worth something?

Not sure this could be verified. Just move on from this evident fraud. Is this an ebay listing? If so, please give us the lot number.

Not a chance this is genuine. For one thing, the rims are way too wide.

I've been collecting about 60 years now and am familiar with the Trade dollar series. The Trade dollar is the one coin I will NEVER purchase online. I have seen 99 counterfeits to one genuine coin. Even the slabs are now counterfeited, so you have no assurance a slabbed coin is genuine. I would only purchase through a local coin shop I trust or a reputable dealer at a show.
