to CCF...well if you can post pictures here, you can google images of a 1875 Trade dollar and then tell us if you think it's real or fake. As far as your second coin (not my field) but I feel it might go the same route as the Trade dollar....good luck

@yamato, first welcome to CCF. Second, aren't these coins supposed to be silver?

to CCF. First thing is to weigh them. Then do the tissue test to see if they are silver. Then the magnet test. The Trade dollar looks faker than fake.

I have been around coins for a while.
Since I was a kid, now I am an old guy.

Experience says:
both obviously fake.

I have genuine examples of both in my main collection, and
fake examples of both in my 'black' collection.

@yamato .... I agree that these are obvious fakes, as stated. Hold a kitchen, refrigerator magnet on both pieces. Chances are strong that they'll be attracted to the magnet. Silver is not attracted. A genuine Trade dollar with little wear will weigh 27 grams or slightly more. Chances are, your piece weighs much less; this, typical for these older, crude fakes.

The Trade dollar looks like something off a cartoon. Obvious fake.

I especially like the 12-star obverse on the counterfeit Trade. I wonder which state got voted off of Founders Island?
