True - it does not matter, but the OP may not have known it was damage and thought they had an error. Looking on ebay you would swear something like this is a "L@@K! RARE ERROR COIN!" BIN only $1,000,000.00 (and 20.00 S&H).

Very, very, sanded down zinc cent. minted in Denver from 2010 to 2019 Shield cent.
